Burra Information Group is an independent entity designed to help our visitors find suitable accommodation, places to eat and general information about the town's businesses, attractions and venues.
Our aim is to provide information to allow people to have the choice to deal directly with the service provider or through our booking agency if so desired.
Burra is situated about 160 km north of Adelaide. Copper was discovered there by shepherds in 1845, and by the end of the decade it had its own mine, smelters and a population of 5000 people.
The mine produced high grade copper until 1877 when falling world copper prices, and the high cost of running the mine, resulted in it being closed.
